2012 Action Platinum Series Diecast 1/24 (1 of 2,996)
1986 Richard Petty #6 STP / Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR diecast, by Action. For one race only, the 1986 Coca-Cola 600, "The King" Richard Petty drove this #6 STP Monte Carlo, owned by D.K. Ulrich. It's a car that has never been made in diecast form - until now. This diecast is part of the new NASCAR Classics line by Lionel NASCAR Collectables.

While practicing for the 1986 Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Richard Petty hit the wall, twice. The hits were so hard, Petty was taken to a local hospital with a concussion and his car was put out of commission. Dale Inman and Ulrich installed a Petty Enterprises engine late Saturday night before the race and Petty started the #6 STP Monte Carlo on race day - before eventually turning it over to Ulrich, who finished 38th. These circumstances led NASCAR to institute the back-up car policy, which remains in effect today.
